Huzzas are in order!

Wow. A whole new month already?
Well then I guess it's a good thing I've got a whole new post for you.

I finally put some color on this beast.
I think it adds to the beastie-ness.
Check:

Then I finally got my "dude with the gross eyes" lino printed.
Imagine this, but centered.
Check:

Here's the big news: My Wasp Woman was completed today! Shes now fully carved and free from her wooden prison.

And if that wasn't awesome enough, Nick (from ROBOTIC ARMS PRESS) assisted me in pulling the first four prints! Bolt your kitchen windows and lock your kitchen doors! Because the next time you see this print it might be hanging on your kitchen wall! I managed to take a quick picture before leaving the shop for the day. The picture quality is terrible- the print is pretty stellar, I assure you.

I couldn't get a good shot uhcus they was all restin' in the duryin' rack.
BEHOLD!

Its all good news, tennis shoes.

She's gonna getcha!

Oh dear lord, I'm so close to the end of THE WASP WOMAN block! And none to early, either! I've got my work cut out for me for the next few days. My goal is to get at LEAST one of these babies finished to show at Tower Classic Tattoo's grand opening this Friday.

Oh, you don't know about Tower Classic Tattoo in St. Louis? It's ok, you're about to.
Why not come to the grand opening THIS FRIDAY!?!?!?

See that right there? They're gonna have a live freaking psychic! DJ's too! And let's not forget art from Travis Lawrence, Tom Huck, and me- Mike Pennekamp

Peace out, suckas!

Headin' north.

I'm not going to be around for the next two days and theres no reason to take the block with me.  I've been trying to get her carved as quickly as I can. I'm feeling the crunch... It's a self-imposed crunch, but a crunch none the less.

 Gross face.

Gross nose and snot troff.

Why is it still blurry?!

blech.

Sorry for being about two weeks late on an update.
I was right about the headache, though.

BUUUT-  I am very very excited about getting this one finished.

My dad saw this and said, "So when are you going to drop this gross sci-fi stuff and make something I can hang in my kitchen?"
He's a jerk sometimes.

Gross neck and chin.

 Gross shoulder.

Certainly unfit for a kitchen.

Bzzz...

Ok, I'm a little late on my weekly post and
I'm sorry, but I haven't been wasting time.
The inking references R. Crumb's cross hatch style.
And it's packed full of narrative, which is something I usually don't mess with.

I think I'm setting myself up for a headache.

Her head is HUGE!
Oh, and her cheek bones are a little wonky.
I'll fix it... The cheek bones, I mean.

It's from The Wasp Woman, a classic monster movie
that deals with the objectification of women and the dangers of bee farming
as well as the most heinous mid-life crisis ever.
If you haven't seen it, you should.

See ya', wouldn't want to bee ya'.
